Healthy Manager Programme

Health is the key
to delivering sustainable high performance

Why do organisations need managers who deliver high performance through health and wellbeing?

Post-pandemic, global workplace sentiment surveys show that organisations that help staff create a healthy work-life balance are more likely to have higher performance, higher levels of engagement and less turnover and burnout.
Change has become part of the new workplace. Managing change takes skill and dealing with workplace complexities, hybrid working, flexible working, AI, changing customer requirements and corporate financial strain means that there is more to being a manager now that 5 years ago. Many managers are not properly equipped to deal with all that is expected from their role.
Trends suggest that staff look to managers to lead by example on a range of personal and professional behaviours including personal care and wellbeing to deal with all that is expected from their role.
Newly appointed and middle managers report the highest levels of stress within the majority of organisations, citing a lack of time, unrealistic work demands and problems prioritising between task and people management as key stressors. Managers today are not only looking after the day-to-day, they are performing.
Health is a key driver of performance at an individual and organisational level and to capitalise on it managers and leaders need to broaden their understanding of what health actually means from an organisational and individual perspective. If people believe their manager and organisation care about their health and wellbeing, they are positioned to perform.
Managers need an enhanced skillset to cope with the demands of their life and their role in a healthy and sustainable way. By using deep psychology, we tap into a deeper motivation. It’s about using a scientific approach to measure and manage the right indicators to deliver sustainable high performance.
Organisations that foster a culture of health and wellbeing are more profitable, resilient (better able to cope with change and shocks) and desirable workplaces.

HEALTHY MANAGER PROGRAMME:
BACKGROUND

This programme is designed to enhance managers skills and competence in influencing a climate of health and wellbeing. Participants learn what health and wellbeing means for them personally and how to influence their teams to shift their mindset and behaviours, enabling them to create a healthy balance and enhance wellbeing.

This programme is unique and based in science. The programme takes a salutogenic perspective, which centres on question, how can this person be helped to move toward greater health? This programme helps managers to identify the answer to this question for themselves first, and then for their teams.

Through this programme the link between high organisational performance and health is highlighted using a range of different perspectives. Participants are challenged to think critically about how to best lead and manage self and others toward healthy and sustained organisational performance.
